I've photographed this tree in Petaluma a bunch of times, and finally remembered to mark where it was the last time. Heading southwest on D Street, it's right around Glenn Ranch. (I also realized this is the quickest way to Nicasio, where Ali grew up.) My favorite tree in Sonoma County, holding down the hillside, looking like it's growing out of a rock.
Painting #4 of 5 in the mini collection "Places of Rest." This 2nd collection of 2026 consists of 5 landscape paintings from in and around Sonoma County. Each is based off a reference photo I took while traveling, focusing on some of my favorite places to find a bit of calm: highlighting Sea Ranch, Gualala, Marin County, and two spots in Petaluma.
